Hound Avionics today announced SkyHound™, a portable dual-band ADS-B In system that shows traffic and weather on its own pilot-facing display. The pilot doesn’t need a tablet, a phone or a subscription.
SkyHound™ combines an ADS-B receiver, GPS and a 4.3-inch QLED touchscreen in one compact unit that sits on the glareshield. Pilots can see nearby traffic, NEXRAD radar and METARs at a glance, and they get visual and audible alerts when traffic poses a potential threat.

Most portable ADS-B receivers depend on a tablet or phone for their user interface. SkyHound™ has its own dedicated display, so traffic and weather are always visible, even when the EFB is busy, the tablet overheats or the battery runs low. No Wi-Fi or Bluetooth pairing is needed for SkyHound™ to operate.
Pilots who already fly with an Electronic Flight Bag can also connect SkyHound™ wirelessly to compatible applications such as ForeFlight and Garmin Pilot.

For flight schools and instructors, Hound Avionics also offers the Instructor SkyHound™ Kit. It includes the SkyHound™ unit, every mounting option, the external antenna and the external GPS.
